In Slovakia mineral springs are abundant. Every region has a number of mineral water sources that are open to public and free to drink. Unlike bottled mineral water found in other parts of Europe, mineral springs in Slovakia have each a particular taste. Some are more sulphuric, others are rich in manganese or iron. Their drinking, albeit in moderation, is proven to have various health benefits.
Some have been commercialised and are available in shops. Hundreds of other ‘small’ local springs remain a source of mineral water for locals. Refilling one’s own bottles is still a common practice across the country.
On your walks in nature you will come across huts like these.
